Two bitter rivals in Migori County; Governor Okoth Obado and former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko have finally put aside their political differences and reconciled.
Obado and Ayacko, who never saw eye to eye met on Monday during the burial of the late Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello.
The two political heavyweights shook hands, and ended the protracted political feud that polarized the region especially after the 2017 election.
Governor Obado and his challenger during the 2017 General Election vowed to work together for the benefit of Migori people.
The handshake between the two leaders was facilitated by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ayacko, a former Rongo MP, and a key Raila ally, faced Obado during the ODM nominations in 2017 and lost. He, however, jumped ship and vied for the seat as an independent candidate where he once again lost to his bitter political nemesis.
As time went by, their relationship got worse as Obado skipped the homecoming ceremony of area Woman Representative Dr Pamela Odhiambo, an event which Ayacko attended.
The new development, however, indicates that the county is headed towards the right direction devoid of many factions that has been the hallmark of Migori in the past.
