The incident happened on Tuesday evening.

Neighbours said the suspect James Omare has been at loggerheads with his cousin, Justus Momanyi for over 5 years over a piece of land.

"Omare has been asking Momanyi to surrender his piece land to him on grounds that he paid for his secondary school fees, something Momanyi opposed. Omare cut the deceased several times on Tuesday evening using a machete while the deceased wife was away and buried the body at his vegetable farm," said area assistant chief John Ongoro.

Mr. Ongoro said when the deceased wife, Jackline Nyaboke returned she didn't find her husband.

"Nyaboke searched for her husband in vain. She notified neighbours who helped in the search only to find a fresh shallow grave at the suspect's vegetable farm and upon opening the grave Momanyi's lifeless body was found wrapped in a sack buried," he noted.

The administrator said angry neighbours stormed the suspect's house but, he luckily escaped before he could be apprehended.

The chief said the body of the deceased was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue.

He has since assured that police officers have launched a manhunt for the killer.
