Uhuru has rarely made public appearance since visiting China, and he jetted in silently from Dubai where he reportedly held talks with ODM leader Raila Odinga for three days.

“We don’t know what they were discussing, but they met many times,” an official had revealed.

The president rarely goes missing from public limelight since his election in 2013. More often than not, he's seen hosting delegations and attending business meetings.

But Ms Dena said the President has been attending usual business in his office, adding that the fact he hasn't made public appearance, does not mean he's not within the country.

"I am shocked that people say they haven't seen the President since he left China, yet on 3rd of this month he had a meeting with executives from Global Fund and there was a Statement about it," she said in Radio Maisha on Monday.

She added: "The President is around, it doesn't mean that because he is not seen in public he is not there, he has an office where he goes every day and he is working on several things."

Last Monday, Uhuru effected military changes where he extended the term of Chief of Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe for one more year. He was set to retire in April.

While Uhuru has taken a low profile, his Deputy William Ruto is often seen traversing the country for fundraisers and other government functions.
