Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene on stalled development projects in Ukambani.
The second term Wiper Party Senator wants President Kenyatta to help complete stalled projects in Ukambani counties as part of his 2022 legacy.
Speaking in Mbooni Town in Makueni on Wednesday, Senator Junior cited Thwake dam and Konza City as stalled projects that the national government needs to urgently complete.
He claimed that Ukambani has nothing to celebrate about in terms of life changing development projects.
“We want to celebrate the handshake of Konza city, Thwake dam and not political appointments only meant to benefit few individuals,” the Senator said.
Senator Junior said that it ironic for the national government to award jobs to political losers and deny Kenyans development projects.
He noted that the money being paid to politicians who were recently awarded state jobs should be used to fund stalled development projects.
At the same time, Senator Jnr urged President Kenyatta not to lose up on the fight against corruption.
He said that Kenyans are losing their patience and the that President and agencies involved in war against corruption must act firmly and independently.
“There is much talk about corruption with less action and Kenyans now want to see big people implicated in graft scandals taken to jail,” the Senator added.
