In the past few weeks, things on the political scene have been unfolding really quick. Quicker than perhaps anyone can expect.

It all started three weeks ago when Central Kenya leaders met in Naivasha where they came up with a set of demands which they said they want President Uhuru Kenyatta to address before leaving office because according to them, he had neglected the region development-wise.

A day later during the opening of Karatina market, Uhuru reprimanded the Central Kenya leaders accusing them of endless politicking at the expense of development.

Uhuru also for the first time since he was re-elected into office, weighed in on the divisive 2022 succession debate where he said come that time, he will drop a shocker.

Less than three days later, Uhuru met with both opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto at the latter's Karen home. Details of what was discussed during this meeting are still scanty.

Last week during the burial of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's father in Kitui, Kalonzo told thousands of mourners that from then going forward, he would become Uhuru's 'mtu wa mkono'.

With things moving at this unprecedented lightening speed, one can only be left wondering, is there something cooking inside the political pot?

As they say, there is no smoke without fire and in this case, all indications are in the affirmative.

So, if this hypothesis is proved to be right, what could these senior politicians be up to?

Well, many things could be on their table. But let's focus on one possibility which is that they could be discussing an all-inclusive pre-2022 political pact.

Assuming that is the case, what shape would a political pact that involves Uhuru, Raila, Ruto and Kalonzo take?

Remember Uhuru has been vocal on saying that he wants to leave behind a united country.

Therefore, a political pact that brings together at least Mt Kenya, Eastern, Nyanza and Rift Valley regions shouldn't be seen as far-fetched.

So, if it happens, there's a possibility that the presidency is offered to Raila on condition that he serves for only one term, that is up to 2027, after which he surrenders the seat to Ruto. Of course, by then he will be advanced in age.

Why this position favours Raila most in such a quadruplicate political pact is because Ruto may be pressured to shelve his 2022 presidential ambition to at least allow the presidency to move outside the Kikuyu-Kalenjin sphere which has held the top political seat since independence.

Ruto is also relatively young and it may be argued that he would not find it hard to wait for another five years.

Ruto on the other hand, could be offered the Prime Minister position likely to be created via the impending referendum.

The Deputy President position could go to Uhuru's successor in Mt Kenya politics while Kalonzo could be offered the Deputy Prime Minister position.
