Nyanza is known for her wealth, both in terms of agricultural produce, talent and of course, a string of celebrities and politicians, some of whom have managed to gain national recognition.
Nonetheless, Nyanza is a place that has a special kind of politicians. They are brazen in nature and articulate; they are people who speak their mind without fear.
Here are some of the most vocal politicians from the region:
1.Jakoyo Midiwo
The former Gem MP is a cousin to opposition leader and Luo-Nyanza political kingpin Raila Odinga.
Despite lacking the political platform currently, after losing to Elisha Odhiambo in the previous elections, he has retained his voice, using any other platform at his disposal for his benefit.
The leader who frequents NTV’s AM Live on Tuesday mornings is a strong critic of his political enemies, his biggest victims being Deputy President William Ruto, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, and the Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement.
2. Miguna Miguna
Despite having been banished from the country in February over involvement in Raila’s January 30 mock presidential inauguration, Miguna remains one of the most vocal Luo politicians.
Through his regular tweets, Miguna has continued to bash both Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly deporting him and denying him entry back in the country.
3. Millie Odhiambo
She is in always in the front line in Raila’s protection team and has proved her inability to condone attacks aimed at the veteran leader and readiness to counter such attacks.
For instance, she was once filmed insulting Uhuru over their initial political enmity with Raila, before recently declaring war on anyone opposed to the two leaders’ joint moves after their truce.
