A Ford Kenya party elected MP has claimed that he can't continue being in Deputy President William Ruto's campaign camp terming it as 'unsafe' for him.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka argued that he had dedicated his time to rally for DP Ruto so that he can clinch presidency in 2022 but, now he can't. 

"Being in DP Ruto's camp I will unsafe because he has been widely mentioned in graft. Selling a person who is corrupt will make me get resistance which will end up ruining my political career," he noted. 

He also claimed that DP Ruto as condoned selfish individuals who are giving him bad advise. 

"Ruto is slowly losing relevance because he is surrounded with greedy people only interested in embezzling public funds," he stated. 

Onyonka during the interview confirmed that he will not be defending his MP seat in 2022 general elections. 

"I will not go for the MP seat in 2022 since I am eyeing a top seat. I'm ready to face other aspirants in the ballot for the Kisii County governorship seat," said Onyonka.
