The Swahili say uchungu wa mwana aujuaye mzazi (only a parent feels the pain of losing a child).
Monical Nyawira's mum, Miriam Kimani, has been in tears since her daughter was found murdered in her apartment at Kilimani.
So close was the girl to the mum that she bought her a Subaru Impreza a few weeks before her death.
During Nyawira’s requiem mass, it emerged that the main suspect in the murder, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, was known to her family.
He used to be a friend to the deceased and had met several family members at least once during a family function.
Nyawira’s mum knows him and said he had brought her untold pain.
“Ukikutana na Joe, (Jowi) mwambie alinikosea sana…alinikosea sana. (When you meet Joe tell him he has hurt me so much),” the mum said amid tears.
During the burial of Nyawira at their Kairi village farm in Nakuru, the mother was overwhelmed by grief.
As the white casket carrying her daughter’s remains was lowered down the grave, she collapsed.
