Close aides of Governor Okoth Obado may have betrayed him by reporting his secret relationship with Sharon Otieno to his wife, reveals the Standard.
In a detailed statement to detectives last week, the Migori county boss narrates how he was busted by his wife, Hellen Obado, over the relationship with slain student Sharon Otieno.
It all started during the Devolution Conference in Kakamega in April when county officials were booked at Acacia hotel during the event.
Incidentally, Sharon booked Imperial Hotel in the name of the governor and was hoping to have a romantic night with her new catch, whom she had started dating in November 2017.
And a phone call from Imperial hotel threw the governor into confusion when it was reported that Sharon was waiting for her at the hotel in their 'usual room'.
Moments later, Mrs. Obado called to enquire the whereabouts of the governor. In the call, she could even reveal that the governor had plans to spend a night with Sharon at Imperial hotel.
Further, the First Lady warned that should the governor join the lady, she will be forced to explode the matter to the public, a reason why Mr. Obado opted to cancel his plans.
The governor believes that close aides may have meddled in their relationship with Sharon Otieno, who was murdered a fortnight ago.
As detectives try to unearth the mysterious murder, Obado reportedly linked his PA Michael Oyamo and former Kanyadoto MCA Lawrence Mula to the murder, adding that they were part of the team piling undue pressure on him using the slain student.
Mr. Oyamo is confined at Muthaiga police station and has been charged with murder after journalist Barack Oduor linked him to the abduction of Sharon and him.
