How Sudi mourned retired President Moi's bodyguard

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has led Uasin Gishu residents in paying tributes to the late Leonard Yator popularly known as Chomber who succumbed to heart complications on Thursday. 

Yator who served during first president the late Jomo Kenyatta’s security team and later in the security team of retired president Daniel Moi died at a hospital in Eldoret town.

Through his Facebook page, Sudi described the late Yator as a selfless servant who served with diligence and enthusiasm. 

"I am deeply saddened by the untimely loss of Mzee Arap Chomber Yator. Mzee Yator was former President Moi's aide who dedicated his entire career in serving in Mzee Moi's lead security team. Mzee Yator will be remembered as an astute selfless servant who served his duty with diligence and enthusiasm. Rest in Peace Mzee,” posted Sudi.

The late Yator joined the police service in the early 50s and had served for over 48 years when he retired in 2000 as a senior superintendent police officer. 

He hails from Chuiyat ward in Kesses constituency.

The family is yet to announce the burial arrangements which is likely to be graced by Mzee Moi's allies and different politicians from the Rift Valley region.
