Moses Kuria insists President Uhuru Kenyatta has neglected the larger Mt Kenya region despite getting most votes in the past two elections.
At Mombasa, President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed Mr Kuria as a busybody, adding that he's mandated to work indiscriminately across the country.
"I will continue traversing the country to launch development projects. I am not limited to work for the region I come from. Those peddling such politics are stupid," he said.
Mr Kuria had on the eve of New Year reprimanded Kiambu leadership, accusing it of misleading the president by asking him to launch mundane projects.
But in a response directed to Uhuru, Kuria maintained that Mt Kenya region has been neglected by successive governments, adding that he's not about to drop the claim.
"H.E the President is 100% right. He is spot on. We need development in every corner of this country. It is in that spirit and in line with the President’s position that I believe Mt Kenya region also deserves development just like any other region. Right now it’s not happening," he said. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2050353651709000&id=900455006698876
For one week, Kuria has been on the receiving end from Uhuru's allies, some accusing him of disrespecting the Head of State following his remarks.
The out of favour Kuria is struggling to stamp authority in Mt Kenya in what is viewed as a scheme to take over from Uhuru as de facto Mt Kenya leader.
