Deputy President William Ruto's decision to claim that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's elevation has nothing to do with his 2022 State House bid has led to mixed reactions among Kisii politicians.
A section of politicians have said DP Ruto is in a deep sleep dismissing Matiang'i's a new role in government.
"Ruto should take Matiang'i's promotion with seriousness because things may turn against him even before 2022 since Matiang'i has proved that he can serve in powerful positions in government," said Rachael Otundo.
Samuel Angasa, Boochi Borabu ward MCA argued that DP Ruto's confidence will cost him in 2022.
"I wish to advise DP Ruto to stop undermining people like Matiang'i. His confidence may end up becoming dangerous in his State House journey," said Angasa.
Ibeno ward MCA Charles Maina reiterated that Matiang'i's powerful role in government is a blow to DP Ruto.
"Ruto will only realize once he is dumped in 2022. As of now he has no role since Matiang'i overtook him," said Maina.
Ezekiel Okwena, a famous trader in Keumbu argued that DP Ruto will lose focus ahead of the 2022 polls.
