Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak on Wednesday, the commentator, however, noted that it has very little to do with constitutional betterment as is being claimed by its supporters.

He instead predicted that the changes will open the way for the 2022 general elections.

Manyora claimed that as much as its supporters are hiding behind the need for changes in the country's constitution, it is highly motivated by the heating politicking in the nation.

"The referendum will be there partly because of the politics of the land but also because the constitution we have has a problem, in terms of content and architecture It will be fueled much more by the 2022 politics than anything else," he said.

The pro-referendum side has drummed up support for it over what they term the need to have the best items in the nation's list of laws.

They are now proposing the expansion of the topmost leadership quarter in a bid to wipe out exclusion in the top decision-making table.

The team led by opposition leader Raila Odinga also wants the reintroduction of the initial parliamentary governance system.

On the other side is Deputy President William Ruto who has termed the changes a plot to satisfy election losers top leadership slots.
