Several Girls Secondary Schools in the Rift Valley region have been competing well with their boys' counterparts and have been able to post impressive results over the past years.

Female students are said to be undergoing more challenges than males but the massive empowerment of the girl child by different Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), communities and even the Ministry of Education which puts the pass mark for the girls a bit lower than for the boys seems to be giving the girls an advantage.

 In Rift Valley, these two schools have been able to fight for the top positions in their counties and even the entire nation;

 Moi Tea Girls High School

This is definitely the best school in the South Rift region. The school has struggled to beat the giant Litein High which had been topping Kericho county and the region over for years. In 2018, the extra-county school was ranked among the top ten schools nationwide with a performance index of 69.59  thus beating the likes if Alliance and Starehe girls schools. The school is located at the outskirts of Kericho town.

Moi Girls High School, Eldoret

This school has been able to retain the top position in Uasin Gishu county for years. Moi girls has also been ranked among the top schools in the nation. In 2018, the national school managed to appear among the top 20 schools in the country by taking the 11th position with a performance index of 67.09. Moi girls is located around the Eldoret town Central Business District (CBD). 

It is important to note that these two schools send over 85 per cent of their registered candidates to the university through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
