There was drama as police tried to transfer Dandora-based human rights activist Caroline Mwathi’s body from the City Mortuary to Umash Funeral home in Nairobi.
An autopsy was supposed to be done on Caroline’s body at the City Mortuary but it didn’t take place as the facility attendants were on strike.
On Thursday afternoon, her body was moved to Umash Funeral Home for the autopsy.
During the transfer, fellow activists from all over Nairobi city and its environs joined in the movement.
They blocked police cars in the process, prompting the police to force a way through them.
Unfortunately, one of the activists was hit by a police car which then sped off.
This dramatic video was shared on Twitter by one Oliver Mathenge who then captioned it:
“Police car hits activist as it transfers Caroline Mwatha's body to Umash funeral home for post-mortem."
Caroline’s death still remains a mystery as various sources come up with their theories.
The police claim she died trying to secure an abortion at a clinic based in Dandora in Nairobi.
Her family maintains that she was murdered as they had no idea she was 5 months pregnant as reported by the police.
