While some have fumed at President Uhuru Kenyatta for firing Echesa who only served for 13 months, others have lauded the decision to dismiss the CS whose tenure has been marked by unending controversies.

Among those who have celebrated the Friday morning's sacking is Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili who observed Echesa's dismissal will be a warning to young politicians disrespecting experienced leaders.

Ongili said the sacked CS put his head on the chopping board when he dressed down former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and dared him (Raila) to sack him.

"And it finally came to pass. It is a good thing to respect elders. #CabinetReshuffle," Owino tweeted.

During a public rally in Kakamega, Echesa accused the ODM leader of a plot to sabotage his political career, adding that Raila was not his "equal".

"I want to dare you Tinga wherever you are, come and sack me, kuja unifute. Kama ni wewe appointing authority Kenya hii, come and sack me please. I have a very young family to look after…" he said in November last year.

Echesa was a youth leader in ODM but decamped to Jubilee a few months to the August 2017 general election where he campaigned vigorously for the ruling party in the Western Kenya region.

He was rewarded by being named to the Cabinet when President Kenyatta formed his government in January 2018.
