Kisii County Governor James Ongwae and his deputy Joash Maangi on Friday condoled with the family of the late Pius James Mbaka of Bonyagatanyi village, Nyakoe ward.
Speaking during the event, the county boss appealed to residents to team up in the fight against corruption.
"Every Kenyan is feeling the pain of corruption in this country. I am therefore calling upon members of the public to come out and report anyone stealing public funds for his or her personal gain," said Ongwae.
The ODM allied governor maintained that he is committed to ensuring corruption is put to an end in the county.
Ongwae warned county workers against engaging in dubious dealings saying he won't defend anyone implicated in graft scandals.
"Every individual misusing public funds should be held to account. Anyone caught stealing money meant for development will carry their own cross even if he or she is my relative," said the county boss.
He stated that his desire is to bring development to Kisii County so as to leave a legacy when his second term comes to an end in 2022.
The governor further stated that he won't waste time answering rivals who are idle and hell-bent on criticising his leadership.
