Nyamira governor John Nyagarama on Saturday promised Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i that he will ensure there is development across the county before he completes his second and final term in 2022.
The county boss while speaking when he accompanied Matiang'i for a church service at Bomondo SDA said his government has put in place measures to ensure accelerated development in the county.
"My brother Matiang'i, I wish to assure you that my government is doing everything possible to develop Nyamira. Now that you are the super minister we will not disappoint you," Nyagarama stated.
The ODM governor reiterated that public funds will not be misused under his watch. He said corrupt county workers will be weed out so that residents can enjoy the fruits of devolution.
"I have stepped up efforts to fight graft in the county. I don't wish to retire and leave a corrupt devolved unit. My appeal to county workers is to ensure public funds are utilized well to fund various projects," he added.
Nyagarama also challenged elected leaders in the county to help him fight graft.
