Chief Justice David Maraga is expected to preside over the inauguration ceremony of the new IG following the appointment on Monday.

The exercise has been scheduled to take place at the Supreme Court of Kenya in Nairobi.

The oath of office will be administered by the Chief Registrar of Judiciary, Ms Anne Amadi.

The new IG is scheduled to take his oath of office at 6:00am before he assumes office at Jogoo House.

His predecessor, Joseph Boinett, will be waiting at the workplace to handover the tools of power after the ceremony.

Maraga will also be tasked with the duty of swearing in seven members chosen by President Kenyatta to investigate the conduct of Supreme Court judge Jackton Ojwang’.

The judge has been accused of inappropriate conduct while in the line of duty.

The members of the team are expected to take oath at 11am before the process of investigating the suspended judges begins. The tribunal will be chaired by Justice Alnashir Visram.

The other members are Justice (Rtd) Festus Azangalala, Mr Ambrose Weda, Mr Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, Ms Lucy Kambuni, Ms Amina Abdalla, and Ms Sylvia Wanjiku Muchiri
