Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Thursday held a meeting with US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter
The second term county boss, who has expressed interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, revealed that the discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting.
He highlighted the fight against terrorism, infrastructural development and investment opportunities as some of the issues they addressed when they met at his office in Mombasa.
"Hosted US Ambassador to Kenya H.E @USAmbKenya who called on me at my office earlier today. Our deliberations touched on areas of infrastructural development, Countering Violent Extremism, investment opportunities and other bilateral interests | @USEmbassyKenya @Strong_Cities," he tweeted.
He also said that they talked about how they will ensure that the Mombasa Nairobi express Highway becomes operations. Joho noted that the connection between Mombasa and Nairobi will transform the economies of the two regions.
“Our discussions also covered the yet to be commissioned Mombasa-Nairobi express highway which is set to drastically reduce the travel time between our two cities and contribute immensely in the improvement of the economic terrain,” he said.
The governor also assured the electorate that he will continue with his good work before his term in offices comes to an end. He has pledged to invest in different sectors including education, health and infrastructure among others.
