Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has vowed to fight back against Deputy President William Ruto.Ruto has been making frequent trips to the larger coastal region, seeking to lure several politicians and residents to his camp ahead of 2022 election.
Several ODM MPs including Joho's close allies have since crossed to support Ruto, leaving Joho who also seeks the presidential seat.
The lawmakers support Ruto following a handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and their party leader Raila Odinga.
However, on Monday Joho said he will join hands with other leaders in the country to win the presidency.
The ODM deputy party leader warned Ruto that he will work with his opponents to bring Ruto's political career to an end.
“Say what you want and do what you want, but politics is a game. We will deal with you (Ruto) by working with your opponents. Let us not blame one another. Let’s see what will happen come 2022,” Joho said.
Speaking during the opening of a maternal high dependency unit at the Coast General Provincial Hospital (CPGH), Joho asked Kenyans to desist from electing leaders who are linked to corruption cases.
“Resist corruption and corrupt leaders. Let’s be careful to ensure our lives are in safe hands. Only leaders who value humanity will improve people’s lives,” added Joho.
