This is after their 10-month-old baby John Mbugua suffered severe burns in November, last year.

According to the child’s mother, Lucy Muthoni Mbugua, her son accidentally fell into boiling porridge in their house.

Due to the extent of the burns, baby Mbugua was referred to KNH where he was hospitalised for seven weeks.

Robert Githire, a well-wisher from Kiambu and a community mobilizer has since launched a funds drive to help the family offset the Sh136,127 bill.

“Through a lot of struggle, his family raised Sh25,000 and KNH gave them a period of one month to raise the remaining balance of Sh111,127,” said Githire during an exclusive interview on Wednesday.

So far, through the funds drive, they have managed to raise only Sh12, 212, a far cry from the actual amount (Sh111,127) needed to offset the hospital bill.

“Friends, we have done this before and we can always do it again. Any amount from Sh10 please, let us give to enable the mother to pay the bill and also be able to take baby John for his weekly clinics until he fully recovers,” he pleaded.

KNH has given the family an ultimatum to clear the bill within 30 days.
