An elected Member of Parliament from Gusii region has attacked Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) secretary general Wilson Sossion for refusing to call off planned teachers strike.
Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri while speaking on Tuesday after attending a church service at St. Mary's Girls Nyamagwa in his constituency faulted Sossion for planning to delay school re-opening.
"Parents have prepared their children enough so that they can go back to school but, unfortunately Sossion is committed to ensure schools are not re-opened as planned. Sossion is becoming a burden to Kenyan parents and children," Obiri said.
The lawmaker urged teachers from Gusii region not to take part in the planned illegal strike.
"I am appealing to our teachers in Gusii region to resume work because Sossion is committed to mislead teachers," he stated.
According to the lawmaker, Sossion is not fit to continue serving as the Knut secretary general because he turned to be a politician.
"Sossion is unfit to continue defending teachers because he is a politician using his position at Knut to get fame among teachers. It is high time he should be kicked out from the position for him to put more energy in politics," he added.
