Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba said twilight girls should stop crowding at night clubs looking for men who may end up infecting them with diseases such as HIV/Aids.

"It is worrying that an increased number of girls are joining sex trade business. I'm appealing to twilight girls to consider starting small businesses instead of spending cold nights outside night clubs in Nyamira to sell their bodies to men," he said.

Mr Mariba urged Nyamira local leaders to prioritize youth, women and disabled persons empowerment to boost the lives of people.

"Young girls join sex trade because they lack means of starting self-business. Local leaders must wake up and ensure girls more especially those who have completed school are given funds to start own businesses," he added.

He urged parents not to allow girls to venture into sex trade saying they risk contradicting diseases.

"Parents must be at the front line fighting sex trade," he noted.
