It is evident that the Moi University Student Organisation (MUSO) is gradually giving power back into the hands of the comrades.
Unlike in the past, students are now reaping the fruits of being represented by MUSO.
The past few days have been busy for the students' leaders at the Kesses-based institution who have been trying to make things right for the forgotten comrades. From the delayed HELB disbursement to the high transport cost imposed on the students.
Last week saw the students' leaders led by the MUSO Secretary General Moses Tisa take to the streets to demonstrate against the delayed HELB disbursement.
The demonstration on the streets of Eldoret town attracted the attention of top media houses in the country. For yet another time, the students' leaders reminded the government of the existence of Moi University comrades.
This was however not the first time the students' leaders were demonstrating. Early this year during the lecturers' strike, the able leaders stood up for the comrades and demanded speedy negotiations on the lecturers' strike so that they can go back to classes.
Recently, the leaders again came to the rescue of the comrades and demanded reduction of the fare between Eldoret town and Moi University.
The fare had shot up from Sh100 to Sh130, making it hard for the students to comfortably travel from town to the school. After lengthy negotiations, the leaders finally convinced the MU84 Sacco to lower the fare to Sh110.
It is clear that a time of revolution in university politics has come. A time where the phrase 'Power of The Comrades' will have a meaning it once had.
