Two people escaped death narrowly on Monday evening following a fatal accident which occurred at Nyanturago area along Kiamokama-Kisii road.
Witnesses said a matatu driver ferrying passengers from Kiamokama to Kisii tried to escape colliding with a boda boda rider who entered the wrong lane when he veered off the road.
"The speeding boda boda rider entered the road carelessly without checking on the oncoming matatu. The matatu driver tried to escape the collision when he veered off the road causing the accident," said a witness Ezekiel Orina.
Mr. Orina said the driver and one of the passengers sustained injuries while the boda boda rider didn't get any injuries.
"We rescued the victims and rushed the driver and a passenger to hospital for treatment. Other six passengers escaped unhurt," said Orina.
Area assistant chief Henry Nyang'au said the rider escaped from the crime scene abandoning the motorbike.
"The rider has gone into hiding in fear of arrest because he was riding carelessly. We are tracing him to be arrested. Boda boda riders must follow the set road rules to curb accidents," said the chief.
