State House Digital and Diaspora Communication Director Dennis Itumbi posted the photo of a jovial Uhuru manoeuvring in the traffic, only indicating that he was trying to beat it.

"When the President is caught up in traffic as he enjoys a drive in the city...@UKenyatta," tweeted Itumbi, a close friend of Mr Kenyatta.

Lawyer Ahmed Mohamed added: "Hey @KoinangeJeff, is that Kamwana is your G-Wagon? But it’s more like @ahmednasirlaw’s coz it is a right-hand drive."

Throughout his presidency, Uhuru has often been social with electorates and in 2014, he was pictured also driving along Nairobi-Nakuru highway, something that caught many Kenyans unaware.

In the photo that has made several rounds on social media, Uhuru is seen smiling as unidentified lady makes her way to where the president was. She had her head covered thus making it impossible to identify her.

For the purposes of protocol, the president is driven by an army officer often from the Defense Headquarters with a rank of Lieutenants Colonel with an Aide-de-camp of the same rank.

While on a private mission, he's is also entitled to his tight security usually selected from among elite Presidential Escort. They are mandated to beef up the security of the president all the time.

It could not be established who took the photo or where the president was headed to. As a private citizen, Uhuru runs the vast Kenyatta business empire which includes the Brookside company among others.
