The family of the late former Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello was on Friday again thrown into mourning, following the death of his mother Teodora Ayiecko.
Teodora died early Friday at the Migori Level-4-Hospital.
According to the former Senator's nephew Mr Mark Okundi who has since taken over as the family spokesman, Teodora had been diagnosed with diabetes.
He added that the latter was battling with old age complications, that have seen her traverse several hospitals in the county in the recent past, and could have succumbed to a combination of the two.
“She had been unwell for some time due to complications related to her old age,” he said.
Senator Okello had been battling cancer for some time before he finally lost the battle, succumbing to the ailment at a Nairobi Hospital on June 19.
The former broadcaster and radio presenter ascended to the office on the previous 2017 general polls on the opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
His seat has since been filled by former Energy Cabinet Minister Ochilo Ayacko who won in the repeat election conducted on Monday this week.
Ayacko captured the seat on the ODM ticket.
