Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa is proposing changes to the Sexual Offences Act.
Jaldesa says she has written a proposal to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi seeking to amend Section 43 of the Sexual Offences Act.
The MP wants the act amended with aim of making punitive laws that will punish sexual offenders.
She wants the 10-year jail term for rapists and defilers changed to allow for chopping off of the offenders genitals.
The MP argues that it does not make sense to hand a sex offender a 10-year jail term yet the life of the victim has been destroyed.
“Sexual offenders should have their manhood chopped off instead of being given 10 years imprisonment,” she said.
Jaldesa who spoke in Isiolo town on Thursday during the sensitisation forum on women rights urged stakeholders to stand united and defend the rights of women and girls.
