Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has expressed his happiness following the decision by twilight girls to keep off Nyamira town during the festive season.
The county security boss attributed the reduced number of twilight girls in the region due to the warning he has been issuing to parents.
"Parents are now responsible to ensure their children more especially girls are remaining in their houses at night during this festive season. Plans are ongoing to ensure there is zero in number of twilight girls in Nyamira town and its environs," he said.
According to Nakoru, men could have ended up using all their money to hire twilight girls for sex and forget paying school fees for their children who are reporting back to school starting January 2, 2019.
"We have done a good job keeping off twilight girls in town because men could have used all their bonus money and salaries to hire the commercial sex workers for sex. The festive season has been running smoothly in the county despite the minor crime cases," he noted.
He said after festive season, school going children won't be condoned to be loitering in the villages.
