A section of Gusii elders led by Council chair Araka Matundura, expressed their happiness with the way police officers responded quickly to the Dusit hotel attack.

"Police officers have improved especially when it comes to attacks. This is a clear indication that Matiang'i is working hard to streamline the police force," he noted.

Matundura argued that the unity Kenyans showed during the attack should continue.

"Kenyans felt each other and prayed during the attack. I wish such unity to continue for our country to grow," he said.

The chairman challenged Matiang'i to ensure security at the borders is beefed up to keep off criminals from neighboring countries.

"Al Shaabab should be kept off by Matiang'i deploying more police officers at the borders. Kenyans need to be live in peace, unity and harmony," he added.

Matundura condemned the attack and reiterated the need for the government to create more jobs for youths.

"Our youths are joining  gang groups due to lack of jobs. It is time for the government to move with speed to create more jobs and absorb the youths," said Matundura.
