Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura had poured cold water on Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's presidential ambitions.
The Kenya African National Union (KANU) boss is considered a possible contestant in the 2022 presidential race though he is yet to make the declaration.
However, speaking on Saturday, the lawmaker ruled out Moi from the list of possible winners, claiming that he lacks what it takes to vie for the top seat, especially in 2022.
He observed that Moi is yet to show interest and seriousness in the seat, and has confined himself to playing a role as ailing retired President Daniel Moi's caregiver.
"Gideon amelala, hajaamka bado, yeye amekuwa gatekeeper wa kuangalia nani anakuja pale Kabarak (Gideon is still asleep, his job currently is to check the visitors at Kabarak)," he said on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
Mwaura noted that Moi cannot even be equated to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria whom he said appears better placed to make an effect in the much-anticipated contest.
"Hata naona Moses Kuria yuko mbele yake msimwignore maana yuko na wafuasi (I think Moses Kuria is ahead of him. He has supporters and should not be ignored)," said Mwaura.
Others who have hinted at vying are Deputy President William Ruto, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
