Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Director of Communications Philip Etale has taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto, arguing that he has lost focus.
In recent weeks, Ruto has intensified his attacks on Raila even as the 2022 presidential race takes shape. Over the weekend, Ruto piled pressure on opposition chief Raila Odinga over the Sh400 million gold scandal.
“Raila should carry his own cross on the gold issue and stop putting in jeopardy job and business opportunities for thousands of Kenyans in UAE,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
In a post on his Twitter account, Etale claimed that Ruto should study Raila's mood since the former Prime Minister is no longer interested in responding to him.
"You will know someone with his rants is useless when Raila Odinga chooses to ignore what he says. In journalism, when someone refuses to respond to your question, then count it useless and move to the next one," Etale said.
The two camps have been at loggerheads over the last couple of months with the 2022 succession debate taking centre stage. Ruto has often insisted that Mr Odinga is out to ruin his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Over the weekend, Ruto claimed that he played part in lobbying for Mr Odinga's new job at AU, adding that he should limit himself to the duties by keeping off local issues.
While Odinga is yet to declare interest in the 2022 presidential polls, Dr Ruto is one of the leading aspirants in the race to succeed President Kenyatta.
