Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong’o is proving to be a successful county chief after being elected on the ODM party ticket last year.
Recently, he received an Excellence in Leadership Award from Project One United Nations for establishing an outstanding economic development initiative to establish Kisumu City as a commercial hub within the East and Central African States.
Within Nyong’o's cabinet, there is Achie Alai Ojany, County Minister for Tourism, Arts, Sports and Information.
Compared to other ministers in Kisumu County, Ms Alai has been a towering figure making her presence seen and felt through taking a lead in various county projects.
In fact if you ask anyone in the streets of Kisumu to name three county ministers, Achie’s name will most likely make the cut.
Being the Tourism, Sports, Arts and Information Minister, she is at an advantage compared to her colleagues since most projects related to the county revolve around her docket.
She is the face of the county and appears in most press briefings today with the governor.
Anyone will tell you without blinking an eye that she is most probably the best performing minister in the county. She has a big stake in the success of Governor Nyong’o's administration.
Her profile on Facebook indicates that she studied Economics at University of Nairobi and went to Loreto Convent Msongari High School.
Since her appointment, she has spearheaded a number of initiatives in the county that have helped improve the lives of Kisumu youth.
One such project is the sponsorship of Kisumu All Stars football team by Nyong'o's administration.
