The over 100 locals carrying twigs and placards pointed an accusing finger to both the national and county government over the poor state of the road they said was key in the area.

Addressing the press during the protests, the locals lamented that their local leadership had forgotten about fulfilling the 2017 pre-election pledges of improving roads and they are now only engaging in the 2022 politics.

They issued a 7-day ultimatum for the road to be fixed failure to which they threatened to storm the offices of area Member of Parliament William Chepkut and Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago.

“We are asking Chepkut, when campaigning in 2017 you told women that you will begin development work by fixing the roads, why are they in a bad state now?” asked one of the protestors.

“Our farm produce cannot get to the market, milk cannot reach the coolers as no lorry or tractor is able to use the road. Why can’t our leaders help us, are we not also residents of this county or we made a mistake by living in Olare?” lamented another local.
