Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has launched a scathing attack on Somali intellectuals for being politically cheap.
In a social media update, Maalim criticised the community's elite political leaders for allowing themselves to be manipulated and enslaved by other regional leaders.
"Ordinarily the educated are supposed to be easy to lead with superior ideas but difficult to drive& impossible to enslave. Many Somali intellectuals have lately confirmed the reverse. At a price of a few silver coins they run errands for illiterate Regional Presidents& Gulf masters," posted Maalim.
Maalim's statement comes barely days after Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi called for the regulation Somali politicians running sophisticated lobby firms in Jubaland.
"Many Somali politicians in Kenya run sophisticated lobby firms & are doing lucrative lobbying jobs for county govts of Somalia I.e Jubaland, breakaway regions of Somalia & the former president of the Somali region in Ethiopia. Lobbyist 4 foreign govts must be registered/regulated," Ahmednassir posted.
