A man in Ekebuse village, Borabu in Nyamira County is counting huge losses after he lost his 6 cows to cattle rustlers.
Nickson Ongeri said he was sleeping on the wee hours of Monday morning when armed 3 cattle rustlers stormed his homestead and drove the 6 cows away.
“I spotted light at the cowshed at 3 am and rushed to confirm who was at the cowshed only to find the cattle rustlers armed with crude weapons untying my cows,” said Ongeri.
Ongeri said he could not raise alarm immediately because he feared for his live.
“I could be death if a raised alarm. I kept quiet for the thieves to leave the homestead before I alerted neighbors,” added Ongeri.
Area police boss Michael Lesmum confirmed the incident and said police officers are tracing the stolen cows to Narok County.
“We have information that the six cows were driven to Ndanai area in Narok County. Police won’t rest until the cows are recovered,” said Lesmum.
He reiterated that cattle theft must stop in the area.The police boss urged local youths to stop engaging in crime saying the law won’t spare them whatsoever.
