A 39-year-old man is nursing serious emotional heart injuries after his 33-year-old wife divorced him for allegedly skipping his mother-in-law's burial ceremony.
It is alleged that Brian Keroro who hails from Ikonge skipped the burial of Monica Nyaboke, the mother to his wife Charity Moraa on grounds that he was denied permission from work.
"Keroro works at a local hardware in Nyamira town and he could not make it to attend his mother-in-law's burial on Friday last week at Manga. His wife was angered and divorced him," said a local Beatrice Nyanchera.
Mrs Nyanchera said locals tried to persuade Moraa to stay in vain.
"She gave deaf ears to our plea to forgive her poor husband citing that her husband disrespected her dead mother by skipping the burial ceremony," she added.
Area assistant chief Fred Obae said Moraa, a mother of 2 vowed never to return to Keroro's home.
"I tried to persuade her to stay but, she refused saying she won't continue living with Keroro who is not caring," said the chief.
He said couples should embrace peaceful ways of solving differences between them when they arise.
