A lawyer close to opposition leader Raila Odinga has named three people he says deserve to be exiled like National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kenya leader Dr Miguna Miguna.
According to Donald Kipkorir, the three Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners who purportedly resigned in April do not deserve to return to office and their decision to do so on Friday and Monday is enough to compel the State to send them to exile.
He said the act by the three commissioners should be treated as impunity, a vice that has cost Kenya's economy too much in development and democratic progress.
On Monday, former IEBC commissioners Consolata Nkatha Maina and Margaret Mwachanya were reported to have returned to office demanding to be allowed to resume duties despite their April resignation.
They were, however, not accompanied by the other commissioner, Paul Kurgat.
"That Connie Maina and Margaret Mwachanya went back to IEBC today is taking arrogance and impunity to a new level," said Kipkorir in Nairobi.
"In ancient Rome and Greece, the two would have received the highest penalty, exile. (IEBC Chairman) Wafula Chebukati should issue a Memo banning them from IEBC."
On Friday when the commissioners returned to Anniversary Towers which hosts the IEBC headquarters, Chebukati reportedly refused to meet them.
Chebukati maintains the commissioners did not formally resign as they made the announcement at a press conference.
