Drama erupted at Muguathi Village in Wanyororo, Nakuru, during a burial on Thursday as relatives disagreed over family matters.
Mourners had convened to pay their last respects to Paul Kimani who died aged 124 years.
However, hell broke loose when one family member reportedly refused to hand over the deceased's documents.
The documents included an Identification card, title deed, and a burial permit.
The family of the deceased halted the burial as two groups clashed and several members got injured.
They are now demanding that the documents be uttered before the mzee is laid to rest.
They accused one of them, who is a son-in-law to the deceased, of playing monkey business with the documents in order to benefit from the late's goodies.
The body of the deceased was taken back to Nakuru Level 5 mortuary until the case is sorted.
