Tributes and messages of condolence have started trickling following the death of a powerful member of parliament from the North Eastern region.
The news of the demise of the former Mandera South legislator Mohammed Adan Huka caught many by surprise, with a number of his acquintances expressing thier shock.
Among the high profile individuals who have since sent their tributes include the Mandera West MP Adan Haji.
Via a social media statement, Haji mourned Huka as a friend and a brother.
"I take this opportunity to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and of Mohammed Adan Huka, the former Mandera South MP whose demise came to me as a shock.... It is sorrowful to hear the demise of a friend and brother...," a statement from the Mandera West MP read in part.
Other politicians who have also sent their condolences are the Mandera Governor Ali Roba, Garissa Governor Ali Korane and Majority Leader Aden Duale.
According to MP Huka's blood brother Abdi Adan Ali, the former politician died after battling sickness for over a year.
Huka will be burried at the Langata Muslim cemetry on Sunday afternoon.
