Studies show that women doing demanding jobs tend to gain more weight as compared to men.

Researchers from the University of Gothenburg led by Dr Sofia Klingberg conducted a study for years in quest of finding how job-related pressure can impact one's weight, both on men and women.

Dr Klingberg who is a researcher in community medicine and public health at the university conducted the study for 20 years where over 3,000 participants were involved.

The study found out that women gained more weight when they were exposed to demanding jobs that gave them pressure.

However, it was not the same case on men, in fact, their weight gain was not linked to their job demands.

“We were able to see that high job demands played a part in women's weight gain, while for men there was no association between high demands and weight gain," said Dr, Klingberg.

However, the study did not fully document why women gained more weight than men. They noted that women with more demanding jobs might have lacked enough time of living a healthy life by excising due to other home chores that most men were not taking part in.

They have ruled out diet to be one of the causes for weight gain.
