The coordinator of IDPs in Gusii Samwel Tumbo and the chairperson of IDPs in the region Paul Ombati, said the refugees are languishing in poverty since their dues have not been cleared as promised by president Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I was sent away from Suba where I had a land after 2007/2008 post-election violence. Am now in Kisii county and I was chosen as a coordinator. I went to Kitale offices and was told that those who were left out when the first portion was remitted, will be given the funds. Now that the government has the record, it should hasten the release process since this IDPs are languishing in poverty. If it is possible, let the government clear the dues by February," Tumbo said.

The chairman of the IDPs Ombati said, although some were given some amount, another portion was remaining which was promised to be paid later on. He asked the leaders to join hands with the IDPs so that the money can be remitted to enable the refugees to start a new life.

"Up to now the number of those who were left out is almost 5,000. The government now knows this and let it clear the dues as promised." Ombati said.
