Speaking to the press at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi, the lawmaker said that the leaders should be warned against spreading lies.

He singled out Nandi Governor Arap Sang and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa for making what he termed as defamatory remarks against the county boss.

Sang asked Joho not to attack Deputy President William Ruto before he clears his name from the drug trafficking claims.

"My friend Joho you cannot hide under attacking William Ruto and imagine that your drug issues will be washed away," the Nandi governor claimed.

In response, Owino told off the leaders who want Joho probed over the drug links.

“I am here to warn some members of parliament who have been spreading false information on Governor Joho and the Deputy Party leader ODM. The following MPs headed by Governor Sang, followed by Oscar Sudi, Aisha Jumwa should desist from spreading information which is frivolous,” he said in part.

It all started when Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho revealed that ODM leader Raila Odinga had asked them to ensure Deputy President William Ruto is stopped from ascending to power in 2022.
