Third Way Alliance party leader Dr.Ekuro Aukot believes that the deputy governor’s slot is useless.
He insists that the slot is wasting the taxpayers’ money for no reason.
Dr.Aukot, who unsuccessfully vied for the presidency in the last polls, is pushing for a referendum that will radically cut the government’s budget by half in case it succeeds.
Speaking to the media in Nairobi on Thursday afternoon, Dr.Aukot pointed out several positions that are irrelevant in the national and county governments. But he insisted on the deputy governor’s job being of no sense to Kenyans.
“By doing away with the deputy governor’s slot, we will save over 21 billion Kenya shillings that can be directed to other urgent development programs within the country, we need to be more realistic here because we are the ones who can make Kenya a better place for every one of us,” said Dr.Aukot.
He made the comments shortly after leaving the IEBC headquarters where he presented his referendum written proposal to the commission.
Dr. Aukot added that he has already collected over 1.4 million signatures countrywide in a bid to actualize the constitutional amendments.
“We are an alliance that will not be swayed by any acts of impunity or political propaganda, in fact, we have now collected close to a half a million signatures which surpasses the requirement for a referendum,” he added.
The outspoken politician maintained that his push for a referendum is so superior that he is not going to calm down soon.
So, can Dr. Aukot’s bid for a referendum succeed and make Kenya a better place for all as he alleges?
