The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has stressed the need to embrace social change where the marginalized and vulnerable groups will be empowerment through the availability of opportunities.

Commissioning Magura secondary school at Kipkebe tea estate in Borabu Nyamira county Mrs. Kenyatta underscored the urgent need for parents to invest in the education of their children.

She said, “Adoption of social change and investment in education provides life skills, values and prepare students for participation in various roles in future.”

According to her, the objectives had eluded many countries in Africa and beyond, thus Kenya’s commendable initiatives to implement them.

The first lady lauded Dr. Naushad Merali, director of the Naushad and Merali Foundation for funding construction of the school and for singling out the girl child for empowerment with education opportunities.

Nyamira county senator, Okong’o O’mogeni challenged those entrusted with public resources to emulate the foundation through prudent funds utilization.

Ben Momanyi the Borabu legislator while thanking the first lady for launching the school said it was the only learning institution catering for the children of workers in the tea estates in the area.

He announced a donation of a school bus through area National Constituency Development fund to facilitate the students undertake learning programs.

North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko and county women representative Jerusha Momanyi commended Mrs. Kenyatta for cascading beyond Zero program to the area.

They assured her of the county people’s resolve to concentrate on national development and support the government.
