More leaders have come out to express their joy after Eliud Kipchoge broke a world record in winning the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon men's race.
Kipchoge finished the race in 2.01:40, beating Dennis Kimetto's record of 2:02:57 in 2014.
Kipchoge led other Kenyans who took all the top three positions. Amos Kipruto came in second while Wilson Kipsang came in third position in 2:06:20 and 2:06:47 respectively.
At Kipchoge’s home in the Rift Valley, locals are celebrating his tremendous win.
Kipchoge’s wife didn’t hide her joy, as she told the media that she knew her husband would win it.
“I knew he will win the marathon and even break the record,” she said.
Kenyan leaders joined other Kenyans in congratulating the three athletes in winning at Berlin.
