Borabu MP Ben Momanyi claimed that KRA has failed to collect revenue prompting the government to hike prices of commodoties.

"KRA is collecting revenue poorly. There are several companies which have not been registered but, operational. Poor methods of revenue collection are being used by KRA with other Kenyans boycotting to pay taxes thus the government opts to hike prices of commodities to recover," he said.

He said MPs should not be blamed for the hiked prices of fuel in the country adding that KRA has done little to seal loopholes in revenue collection that leads to loss of billions.

The lawmaker said KRA should follow up on prominent leaders who boycott paying taxes and other companies to ensure everyone pays taxes for the smooth running of the government.

"Kenyans should pay taxes for the government to run operations. KRA should ensure those who don't pay taxes are arrested and prosecuted," he noted.

He however, expressed confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will intervene to bring down the fuel prices.

The MP was speaking in his constituency on Tuesday.
