ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has told off lawyer Kipchumba Murkomen, after he wrote to him appealing the expulsion of Malindi MPAisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori from the party.
The two who were expelled for supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, sought the services of Murkomen's law firm and logged an appeal against the decision in a letter dated February 2, 2019.
They argued that the committed no wrong and were wrongly accused of contravening party regulations, thus seeking a meeting with the ODM National Governing Council (NGC).
However, Sifuna on Wednesday, February 6, wrote to lawyer Murkomen, who is also the senator for Elgeyo Marakwet, saying "there exists no mechanism of appeal of the decision of the Party's National Executive Council (NEC) to the (NGC)."
He asked Murkomen and his clients to take time to familiarise themselves with the constitution and rules governing the Orange Democratic Movement to save themselves from what he termed as ''ignorant misapprehensions in future."
In the meantime, Sifuna said that the Jumwa-Dori expulsion matter remains an internal process between ODM and its membership and will not be admitting strangers to any of internal deliberations on the matter.
