On Sunday, Gideon toured some villages across the county on foot and freely mingled with residents.

Among the beneficiaries of his uncommon trek was 82-year old Leonidah Khatenje from Esicheseri village in Mulwanda Location.

The lawmaker who is a son to former President Daniel Moi promised to aid the elderly blind lady to regain her sight which she lost 2010.

After requesting for help so that she can regain her sight and see her granddaughters, Moi promised to have her regain her vision.

“I want to thank Mr Moi for rescuing me. He told me that this week, I will be taken to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

May God bless the work of his hands and also his 2022 presidential ambitions,” she is quoted by the Standard.

Moi confirmed this, adding that he is working in collaboration with area Governor Wycliffe Oparanya to bring the lady back to her feet.

“I have given them some money to go for an eye check-up at Sabatia Eye Hospital and they report back to me.

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has agreed to release a county ambulance to bring her to Nairobi after the check-up to get specialised treatment. I will pay all her bills," he is quoted.

The fundraiser was being hosted by area senator Cleopa Malala in Kakamega Town on Saturday, Moi was accompanied by area leaders including Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.
